Color Challenge with JUGS

Time to come and color with JUGS this week. Our hostess, Vicki, has chosen standard and beautiful Valentine colors - Pink, Red and White. Let's see what y'all can come up with (and you'll get one of your V-Day cards done in the process).

I made mine using the FTL163 sketch - just a CAS card this time - needed it "mailable" easily...

I have been cleaning out my stamp supplies and was about to put these in my "give away" pile   - but then I thought I'd make "one last card" from these and now they are back in my stock. LOL

A little scoring and a few bits of pink rhinestone bling added just a little extra to this simple card.

Here's the inside - simple as well but I'm positive my recipient will love it.

Thanks for stopping by - please join us over at JUGS for our color challenge this week and pop over to our DT for more inspiration. Have a great one - my daughter comes home for a couple of days from Afghanistan on Monday so I'll be happy but quiet for awhile.

Hugs n smiles.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi All,
I know I have been MIA again - my daughter was home from Afghanistan for a visit so everything else gets put on the back burner. Meanwhile,  I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner - Wishing abundant blessings for each of you.

Ok - so it's a Just Us Girls Saturday and time for a new color challenge. Vicki is our hostess this week and she's got some great traditional holiday colors for us... Red, Green and White.

Now I KNOW these are Christmas holiday colors but I really, really wanted to try a non-holiday card with the colors so my colors are a bit more jewel toned but I used a Cranberry (red),  Avocado (green) and an Ivory (creamy white). Made a Thanksgiving card for my best friend who moved away (sob). Here's my simple card:

The colors are not quite so deep in real life but I actually had to shoot this photo with my phone as my other camera's battery was dead! SORRY

I worked with pattern, texture, layering and a little copic coloring. Simple layout and design but I think she'll like it!

Now pop over ro our amaaaaaaaaazing design team and check out their inspiration. Hope you'll take a few minutes out of this busy holiday week to play along and color with JUGS.

Spooktacular Color Challenge ala JUGS

Hey gals n guys - it's Saturday and time for the next JUGS challenge - a COLOR challenge to be specific. We want you to work with these "Spooktacular" colors but your project does not have to be a Halloween project  - just use these colors.

Here's my take on the colors - I DID choose to make mine Halloween and these were the perfect fun colors to work with.

I started with the current Mojo Monday Sketch and some fun Halloween digital papers from My Time Made Easy. The  stamps are from PTI's Halloween Tags - so lots of layers, lots of textures and plenty of fun! Hope you'll join in the fun this week and show us what you can do with these colors! Now please stop by the JUGS Design Team and see what inspiration they have cooked up for you.

Colorful JUGS #98

Hey there! It's the middle August - where did the summer go? Students come back to my school district on Monday and we'll be rolling along with another school year. WOW.

Today Just Us Girls has a color challenge for you brought to you by our very own DELIGHTFUL, creative, FUNNY, cheery, ALWAYS HAS sweet things TO say... Elise! Here is the color palette for you to work with... (By the way - a quick shout out to Kristin for making our graphics every week - she's so talented!!)
Now those are colors that make me feel all WARM and FUZZY inside! Rich - ROBUST! I have a friend who's battling cancer for the 2nd time and I just love this sentiment from JustRite Stampers. "Do one thing every day that makes you happy!"  What makes YOU happy? I'd love to hear that in your comments. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in the day to day "gotta do it all" syndrome that we forget the simple pleasures - a walk along a garden path, smelling the fresh cut grass, opening a card you got in the mail!?, star gazing... you get the idea! Or, maybe it's a SMILE, a hearty HELLO, a warm HUG,  or a thoughtful COMPLIMENT. (You never know when someone might just need that!)

Here's my card:

Hope it makes my friend smile. I'm trying to send fun, cheery and encouraging cards as he fights this battle again. Keeping a positive attitude really helps.

Thanks for stopping by - please check out the rest of the Design Team (sidebar ->) and then pop over to the JUGS blog and play along this week.

Hugs and Smiles,

A Colorful Birthday for JUGS

Hi JUGs fans! Thanks for all the good birthday wishes you left for our sweet Elise this week - and now it's time for yet another JUGHEAD birthday!  Please join me in wishing a BIG HUGE Happy Birthday to our hostess this week - the talented Lisa Kind!!!!

Happy Birthday Lisa - (she KNOWS about this post since she is the hostess).  Lisa brings us a lovely color challenge with a twist - to make it a birthday card. The colors this week are Aqua, Coral, Kraft and Black.

Here's to one of the best Lisa!!! Hope it's fantastic. Had to wish my craft friend a "crafty" type of birthday.

Cameo Coral bu SU was my base CS, I used some PTI paper (the aqua), the kraft layer is embossed with a Happy Birthday cuttlebug folder. For the image I used the PTI set called Studio Style - it's perfect for making cards for our crafty friends. I swear the bottom button looks more coral IRL but the camera didn't pick it up right. The new PTI Doilie die and a cork flower created my circular accent piece. I just let my mojo take the lead - I hope Lisa likes the end result. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch as my inspiration.

The inside was fun to work up also. Even though I'm wishing Lisa major mojo she doesn't need it - she always does beautiful work. Stop by Lisa's blog and leave her some birthday love.

Then pop over to our Featured Designer, Teresa Kline. She is doing a BANG UP job for JUGS this month.

Lastly, please hop over to the rest of the team (in my sidebar) and check out their amazing inspirations. Then come and color with us at Just Us Girls. We'd love to see what you create with this palette.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a glorious week.

Hugs n Smiles.

Challenge Crazy!!

Wow I got some time to play and play I did! I have so neglected my dear StampTV friends and challenges so I jumped in on those and, finally I also got to play along with CR84FN this week too. Here are the cards I worked up:

1st - for the February Color Challenge at Stamp TV - a nestie shaped card that swivels open - colors green, yellow plus one neutral. Stamp set Oh Baby bu Gina K Designs.

2nd - The February sketch challenge at StampTV - LOVED this sketch - so fun. Stamp set Spring Florals by Gina K.

3rd - String it up - no ribbon challenge - Stamp set Autumn Beauty by Gina K plus sentiment from Tag Lines.

Finally - I combined this week's Mojo Monday sketch with Mona's CR84FN color challenge - the gray was a bit of a stretch for me but I got there.

JustRite stamp set Stitched With Love and Nested Sentiments.

I was quite happy in my creative "space" this weekend and today's holiday! Thanks for popping in.
Hugs n smiles and have a GREAT WEEK!

New Design Team Member on JUGS +color color color!

Hey girls! It's time for another Just Us Girls color challenge. WOW do we have SOME good colors this week. Our wonderful Kathryn is our hostess this week and we want you to work with these colors, Melon Berry, Kraft and Light Aqua (or as close as you have to these colors).

Before I continue let me take a moment to share some GREAT NEWS with you. The JUGS team has selected a new Design Team member since our sweet Alicia stepped down to focus on her family. Our newest DT gal is none other than the über talented Elise Durenberger - aka Mamacow Creations!!! Please give Elise a WARM JUGS welcome.

I actually created this last week (I was AHEAD for a change) using the Mojo Monday Sketch #177 then realized I couldn't post it to the Mojo challenge because it wasn't time for JUGS yet! LOL.  BUT it was a great sketch and I was happy with the results.
Used some designer paper from my stash of papers - I got this a while ago at my LSS but I have no clue who the paper is by (sorry).

I matted with the Kraft - added some embossed PTI Aqua Mist.  Added some SU! designer paper in Melon that I also had in my stash (I'm pretty sure this is discontinued now) but it worked well with the other paper and with the colors.

I added a few prima flowers and a 3D butterfly for dimension.  If you look closely my sentiment is stamped on the "flag". I lined the inside with the polka dot side of the SU! paper for a very finished look.

Added a few pearls (colored with copics to match the aqua) and I was done!  The butterfly is sort of 3D - the top layer wings are folded "up" for the 3D effect.

Please visit our Featured Designer for the month, Lori Kalus.  Also stop by and visit the creations from the rest of the Design Team in my sidebar. You will not be disappointed!!

Have a great weekend!

Oh Baby!

I had fun playing along with last week's CR84FN Color Challenge brought to us by the extremely talented and very sweet Mona Pendleton so I decided to try it again.  I wanted to make a "gender neutral" baby card and thought these colors would work well.  I combined this week's CR84FN colors with Mojo Monday sketch.

Stamp set is from Gina K Designs and is called "Oh Baby!" Love these little ducks.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful week! See you later for a JUGS color challenge.

Floral spotlight

My blogaversary post is here with an opportunity to win some BLOG CANDY! :-)

Quick post today - I love Mona Pendleton and her new CR84FN color challenges but I have not had a chance to participate with the holidays and subsequent busy month at work. I finally had a chance to create a quick card last night for a gal who happens to love pink! This is a fabulous color set.

Here's my card. My layout didn't work out quite like I imagined it in my mind (that ever happen to you?!?!) so I angled the focal image instead. Stamps are Bold Botanicals and Sensational Sentiments from My Time Made Easy.

Thanks for stopping by - I'll be back tomorrow with Just Us Girls challenge. :-)

JUGS Color Challenge

Hello fellow crafters...
Today is the last JUGS challenge of the 2010 year and it's a simple but beautiful color challenge being brought to you by Andrea.

Isn't that a LOVELY color palette?? So soft and pretty. I decided to make another birthday card to add to my stash. Trying to get a jump on next year's needs :-)

I used some DP from my Lemonade pack, then added a simple Prima flower topped with a Mulberry flower with an added floral sprig as my focal point.  The words are from PTI and I used my new dies from JustRite to create the sentiment flag. A couple of pretty blue rhinestones completed the ensemble. Sorry I didn't have time to do anything more complex but I guess being able to create something in a few minutes is also a plus at this busy time of year. Here's a close up...

I hope you will try to play along with our final challenge of the year. We're all taking off until January 1 when we kick off a whole new year.

My sidebar has links to the rest of the JUGS team. Be sure to stop by and be inspired! We sincerely thank you for your loyal following and for all of you who play along with our challenges. We are thrilled that we are able to bring some inspiration to you and trust me when I say you inspire US as well.

Have a blessed holiday season - may your time be filled with joyous laughter, lots of hugs and of course plenty of smiles. Holiday hugs and smiles to all of you.

CAS Hostess Gift

Before I get started, please stop over at Catherine Doucette's blog for a chance to win a fabulous stamp set! You're going to love it!!

Here's a look at a quick clean and simple card set I made as a hostess gift for the upcoming holidays. We have several parties to attend and I like to have sets of gift cards on hand to take with us. This one was inspired by the Clean and Simple FTL114 sketch and the Color Cue from WPlus9 (sorry I didn't have any WP9 stamps to use for this).

I used plum, creamy caramel and ruby red inks on white CS. The images are from the Sensational Stems stamp set by MTME and So Sentimental also by MTME. Quick to mass produce - fun to make and with matching envelopes makes for some quick holiday thank you notes for a fabulous hostess.

I packaged these up with the Slip Cover template from My Time Made Easy. I LOVE this template for card sets - it's super easy to assemble and so versatile.

Here's Slip cover with the top off.

And here's the whole set of cards.

I'll be back soon with another set but that's all for now. Thanks for stopping by. I'm grateful to all of my faithful and loyal followers!

Hug the ones you love and have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Come Color with JUGS

Howdy! Are you all ready for another Just Us Girls color challenge? Lisa is our hostess and she has a fantastic color challenge this week.  Hope you'll come color with us this week. In honor of our 700 followers we're offering up some fun blog candy to one lucky participant! (read to end)

Black - Red - Gold (or dark yellow) and White (the dark color in our graphic looks dark brown but Lisa assures us all that this is HER bag and it is, indeed, black).

I was inspired by the flowers as well as the colors so I made a 5x7 card for my friend's birthday. Once in awhile I like to work with a bigger "canvas" and this was the perfect challenge for this.

I started by creating a simple BG pattern with my Guidelines Two stamp set from PTI on part of my white CS. I added a SCOR line just above it but you can't see it in the photo.  I then made 3 flowers using the 3 primary colors for the challenge using PTI's Beautiful Blooms II set #1 dies. Easy Peasy!
The sentiment is from Signature Greetings - love the size of these sentiments and the combination of clean, crisp font with Dawn's fun handwriting. Nesties long rectangle - plain and scalloped were used for the sentiment.

A simple inside using the Victorian Lace border die from PTI. Gives me plenty of room to write a note to my friend. She's a papercrafter too so she'll enjoy the design I'm sure.

As for the blog candy. We are offering up a JustRite stamp set and a Spellbinder's Impressability to one lucky participant this week so be sure to play along with us! Now - scoot over to the Design Team (sidebar ->) and see what lovliness they have created for you.
Be sure to also stop by our Featured Designer, Cheryl Rowley and see her gorgeous project.

Thanks for stopping by - hope to see your stuff this week!
Hugs n smiles,
