Color Throwdown #100

WOW  - Color Throwdown challenge site  is having a PARTEEE - they are celebrating 100 challenges!! We're all invited to play along and they have a large offering of goodies up for wins... Here's the #100 Color Throwdown color challenge.

This is the card I created for this challenge - I got a chance to ink up a new stamp from Stampavie that I got from Joan's Garden when I was down there for the workshop in May. It's called Olivia and her kitties Kiki and Sugar and, being the cat person that I am, I LOVED this darling image.

This is a 5x7 card - I wanted to really have this darling image (Olivia) stand out and I also wanted to use some Nesties to help bring the focus onto Olivia.  The only color I didn't own paper wise was the Baja Breeze so my Baja accents are small copic colors and the soft blue in the sky also. Oh and the pearls that I colored with Copics. My sentiment is from JustRite's Romantic Sentiments Centers.

I used my MS scoring board to create the diagonal background. Since this was 5x7 none of my Cuttlebug embossing folders were big enough to create a textured BG so I did the scoring instead.

Mojo Monday and CTD

Hi everyone - a super quick post tonight with a card for two of my favorite challenges. Mojo Monday and Color Throwdown  - even though I'm up to my eyes in "stuff" I'm doing I had to play along with these two challenges.

I finally stepped out of the "" box and moved towards the NEXT special occasion - Valentines Day.

Here's the card I made. 

 Here's a close up so you can see the paper piercing, the 3D butterfly and the tiny charm.

Did some embossing with CB folder, stamped and embossed in white, BG is stamped in Versamark with Fancy Flourishes. Added a 3D butterfly and a hanging heart charm to my set for a touch of whimsy.

Papers: Pretty in Pink, Soft Sky, Cranberry Tart (I don't know what Red Riding Hood red IS - it looked sort of cranberryish) and Wild Wasabi. Stamps are from PTI - Heart Prints and Heart PRint sentiments. Ribbon is SU Soft Sky. This was fun and sort of moved me down the holiday line towards February!! Today's card was designed for both the Color Throwdown Challenge #67

and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #46.

AFTER I got my card 80% done I realized that Mercy's sketch was a square and mine was not! AAACK -  but sketches are supposed to just be the general guidelines right!?!? (ok you would think by now I would be better at reading the fine details!)

I made a congratulations card for a special friend of mine who is celebrating a wonderful achievement. I wanted to make her something totally FUN and even a little wild/whimsical.

The happy mouse is from one of my favorite older SU! sets (can't remember the name and I'm too tired to climb back upstairs and look it up) - the sentiment is from GinaK's Tag Lines. The accent stamps that coordinate with the Vintage 4 nesties comes from WaltzingMouse Stamps - I LOVE them!  I didn't have any Durango paper but I had the kraft, sky and artichoke. I substituted GinaK's Pumpkin Spice for the Durango - hope it's close. I used my PaperTrey Guidelines set to create some DP of my own to go with this week's colors then I found scraps of some sky and artichoke DPs for my accent pieces.  Used a colorful brad on the focal image "frame" and added some pearl accents for the Mercy sketch but because I didn't make it square I was out of room and couldn't put all 3 at the top.

Here's my birthday card for Kristin....

I used the Color Throwdown Challenge as my color inspiration. Fun colors, girls!

I also "loosely" used the latest Mojo Monday sketch as a starting place for layout inspiration.

I wanted to send Kristin some "relax girl!" sentiments so I'm using one of my favorite Stampin Bella stamps - the "Content-to-be-a-Bella". I paper pieced her pants and shirt - a wee bit o' copic coloring and some BIG birthday wishes for Kristin. Added a few pearls for pizzazz and a little embellishment.

Basket of Wishes

Well I just can't believe how fast this week is going. It's time for a Color Throwdown Challenge. Boy those girls are throwing some amazing colors at us. I'm new to this challenge site and for me they really are a challenge! This week's colors are...

I was also inspired by the Lemonade papers from Basic Grey, the floral paisley one, in particular so I started with that and here's my basket full of get well wishes. (When I was working on this I forgot that this was a Bella sponsored challenge - had I remembered I would have used one of my Bella's.) I needed a get well card so I used one of PTI's Vintage Picnic baskets as my focal image. I filled it with some daisies (although I'm not sure I've ever seen cranberry daisies unless they were Gerbers...) I had fun with this just mixing patterns and copic colors as close as I could get them. Matted with the Labels One nestie.

Here is a close up of the picnic basket - since I wanted an upbeat, cheerful card I went for fun, funky and wild colors on the image - even threw in a bit of paper piecing to pull in the paisley print to the liner for the basket.

I didn't have any Pomegranate so I used GinaK's new Cranberry Tart instead. Thanks for a fun challenge girls!

Mojo Color Throwdown Challenges

Just a super quick post tonight before we head out on our Fall Tour. I wanted to get in a Color Throwdown challenge this week. The girls from CTD have been SO supportive of the new Just Us Girls that I wanted to play with their challenge this week, too. I used this week's Mojo sketch and put together a card for an upcoming birthday.


I worked with PTI's Dark Chocolate, Gina K's Soft Sand and SU!'s Cool Caribbean (I was out of Aqua Mist so this is a wee bit darker in hue but still sort of aqua-ish) papers.

I won some fabulous Verve stamp sets in August and have not had a chance to play with some of them yet so I inked up the background stamp from Bountiful Backgrounds with Dark Chocolate and stamped it on the Soft Sand. Then I stamped the tea pot and cup from A Cup of Life set - paper pieced them with the Cool Caribbean. I used the CB Textile embossing folder for the Caribbean layer for some texture.

I inked up the polka dot BG from Verve's background set on the Sand layer then paper pieced the tea pot and cup with the Cool Caribbean.  Added some PTI ribbon, a layered set of Primas and added a cool brad in the center of the flower.

I included a close up so you can see the polka dots and paper piecing.

Autumn Blessings

Whew - it has been an exhausting day of autocrossing. I won the "family prize" of being the first one to do a full 360º spin out in our Mini! LOL I had this card done last night but was too tired to post so here it is now - although brief.

This card is for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge #63 AND Stamp TV's color challenge for the week. I worked with Gina K's soft sand, green apple and chocolate kiss papers plus PTI's summer sunrise.

The sketch is from iheart2stamp.


Sunflowers are from Theresa Momber's Autumn Beauty (available from Gina K Designs.) Masked, colored with copics, cut with nesties, light sponging. A few clear stardust spica for the center of the flowers.

Buttons and ribbon are PTI.
