Just Us Girls Technique Challenge and BLOG CANDY!!!

Hi everybody! Boy am I super excited for today's post. It's a long one - sorry but I have so much to share. First off - do you want some BLOG CANDY??? Then stay tuned and read on...

Today we kick off WEEK 2 of the Just Us Girls Challenge. We bring you a technique challenge today and it is to make a card that includes Paper Piecing. See the Just Us Girls blog for links to tutorials if you're not sure how to do this. Since the Just Us Girls acronym (JUGS) was deemed to be "sort of" appropriate for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October (our inaugural month) it's also OPTIONAL to include the color pink on your card as well.

For my project I just HAD to break out one of my Bella (StampingBella) girly, girly stamps for this challenge (in honor of Just Us Girls) and I had to go with ALL pink. I will be giving this to a close friend who just started treatment for breast cancer.  :-(

First I stamped my image on cardstock and colored the parts that would not be pieced.  I then stamped the image again on my patterned paper and using very sharp scissors, I cut out the dress from patterned paper.

I adhered the pieced dress to my stamped and colored image.

Finally, I flipped this great sketch #136 from CPS and completed my card. My sentiment is also from StampingBella and was intended to help my friend keep up her amazingly positive attitude.

NOW for the Blog Candy - full deets are on the Just Us Girls blog but I will tell you that this week to KICK OFF the JUST US GIRLS challenge blog, we are giving away a $25.00 gift certificate to either Gina K Designs or PaperTrey Ink (winner's choice) to one lucky winner!  To enter you need to participate in our Week 2 challenge by creating a new card with the Paper Piecing technique, post it DIRECTLY to your blog or online gallery, then link it to the Mr. Linky on the Just Us Girls Challenge site. Deadline to post to Mr. Linky is Thursday, October 15, 9:00 PM EST. We will post the winner on the Just Us Girls blog on Friday along with our very special "top pick" stamper called our "Chic of the Week".  I really, really hope you will play along!

I used and flipped the same sketch Pam! It works great for layering tons of DP. I love all of your frilly pink on this card. The stamped image is precious and you did some amazing scissor work on her delicate pink dress! :) Thanks for all you do to make JUGs a fun place to be!

Thanks for your nice comment, Pam! Your card is so sweet.....I have to admit, I glued my pieces down and THEN colored them....duh! Your sketch is super! And yes, that may be a great card for my DD for Valentine's Day, now that I think about it!

This is so pretty, Pam! Love the image and her girly, paper pieced dress, and that ribbon is the perfect finishing touch! Great patterned paper also...I NEED some of that!

I just noticed what you mean on Dana's blog about flipping the sketch! I hadn't noticed you used the same layout :O)

Thank you so much for EVERYTHING you have worked so hard to put together this week! The blog is as fantastic as we had hoped and everything is nice and organized...which makes the DT responsibilities so much easier! You are a God-send, my friend!

I went to your blog and read your inspiration for making the card, I then opened my mail and you put me in tears! I am so fortunate to have you in my life. The card is beautiful and helps me get through these tough days of treatment. I now need to go to my craft room and try to stay awake long enough to make a card to represent all of us women who have been touched by cancer and are so fortunate to have friends like you! Love Ya, Sharon
