Blog Hop with Papertrey

It's the 25th of the month and that means it's time for a Papertrey BLOG HOP! Woo Hoo! I just love blog hop. I really look forward to seeing what each of you creates for the monthly hop.

This month our "assignment" was to work with text. Any size, any way, big, small, background or focus. As long as it's text. So I've had this idea rolling around in my head for a while now and this blog hop spurred me into action...

Here is my project - the deets follow.
I love the many great sentiments from Papertrey and often use sentiments from more than one set on my cards. I had been wondering if I could somehow put several of them together to make a background stamp of words - I've seen some commercial word stamps but wanted to make my own. I needed a card for my son who just finished Paramedic School but I didn't want a traditional "graduation" card - I wanted just lots of words of wisdom and encouragement. Here's the inside.

So - here are my steps - I started with my large block and put sentiments from 6 (I think) different sets on them to build this:










I stamped the image on white card stock (I later decided I liked it better if I stamped a linen background stamp (SU!) with summer sunrise ink THEN stamped my text but I forgot to photograph that step.)











Then I added some accents to the text using the dotted line from PTI's Wishing You set and the small star from the new Out to Sea set.
I added some tiny shiny silver beads as accents for the stars and then layered my image onto Scarlet Jewel and the new Enchanted Evening (OMG love it!!) papers. A ticket corner punch, some larger silver beads and I was good to go!


Originally I had planned to use my mega stamp image as just a BG on the card with a focal image, on top, ribbon etc. but I really liked it how it turned out as the actual focus of the card. Since it was for my son I didn't want some of the typical embellishments so I kept it simply words (from mom!)
