Veteran's Day

On this Veteran's Day I want to share a quick story with you. My son's best friend Ian has been in Afghanistan for 8 months as a Marine. Well, it was time for Ian to come home and he was scheduled to return to our home town yesterday. My son, Kevin, arranged for a welcome home motorcade in Ian's honor. It was one of the most amazing sights I've ever seen. 54 motorcycles from three local organizations showed up along with our local Police, Fire, Public Works, and City Officials.  I've never seen anything like it. The motorcade went lights and sirens and 54 loud (mostly) Harleys for over five miles, delivering Ian to his home on the back of one of our vintage firetrucks. When we arrived at his house the American Legion was there to greet Ian and they presented him with a Combat Cross. It was extremely touching and made me proud to be an American! I am so proud of my son for setting this all up and proud of Ian for serving our country.  THANK YOU to all who made the event an incredible success and a heartfelt thank you to all of our Vets who have served in our Military.  God Bless you all.

Here are a few photos.
Kevin and Ian

Ian and his VERY happy Mom

And his equally happy dad!

Warrior's Watch was one of the three MC's who attended.

Kevin leads the group of motorcycles into the neighborhood.

The American Legion members all salute Ian as he walks up to his home.

The banner says it all.

Thanks all for letting me brag on my kids.
Sorry I didn't get this posted until almost the end of Veteran's Day.

Blessings,
Stampin Pam

What a wonderful story. Your son is a good friend and a blessing to his country. Tell him how proud he made a grandmother all the way in Idaho to read this story. Blessings

What a lovely tribute not only to this young man for his service, but for YOUR young man for thinking to do this as a tribute to his friend. And people say only the older generations have any appreciation - yea - right. You deserve to be a very proud mama too.

Pam - How wonderful that your son was able to give him a wonderful Welcome Home. There are not enough of people like Kevin to arrange a very meaningful tribute to our Men and Women that serve our country to protect us from harms way. I have a son that was a Marine and as he says "always a Marine". I salute all our brave men and women and pray for all those serving right now will make it safe and return to their homes and families.
