Just Rite Recipe Fun

Just Rite's Friday Challenge this week is create something inspired by a recipe and to share that recipe on our blogs along with our projects.

I love to bake cookies but don't do it very often. I made up a sweet treat bag using the Box in a Bag tutorial from SCS. It's not very big (by my cookie standards - LOL) but I decided to share my recipe for one of my favorite cookies because they are SO easy and I can always remember the ingredients AND they can be made up in a size that will nicely fit in the box.

Here's the card and treat bag I made to house these yummy Brown Sugar Cookies.

I worked with two of my favorite summer colors, Hawaiian Shores and Berry Sorbet from PTI. I made my own DP using two of the stamps from Just Rite's Homemade Treats Borders and Centers set. I used the Homemade Treats and Baked with Love sentiments. Added a few random coffee cups (Warm Happiness - PTI) to fill in the "gaps" and then assembled it all together. Here's a closer look at the bag.

For my card I worked up a simple layout with the same colors as the treat box.

One thing I did to bring the colors together was to CAREFULLY ink up the middle of the stamp with Berry Sorbet and then carefully ink the border top and bottom with Hawaiian Shores and then inked the hearts on the side of the border with more Berry to give me a two-colored final stamped image.  You can also see that I cut away the excess rubber from the center piece so when it's used by itself there is no "mis inking" from the excess rubber.

After stamping, I cut with a circle Nestie and then lightly sponged a little more Hawaiian. I love using the circle dies with the Blossom Nestie (instead of the scalloped circle) for a different look. I added a few buttons, pearls , ribbon etc. - standard stampin' accessories :-)

Here's my recipe:

Brown Sugar Cookies

1 C. butter
2 C. brown sugar
1 egg
2 C. flour

Combine butter and sugar. Add egg - mix, then add in flour. Roll pieces of dough into balls - Pat lightly to flatten slightly.

Bake 350ยบ for 10-12 minutes (watch carefully if you make them small).

Hope you have a great week. I can't wait to see the rest of the recipes.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs n Smiles.

Gorgeous, it would make a perfect little visitor gift! Love the way you inked the stamp in two colours, must try that out - although with my butter fingers... maybe not.
Thanks for the recipe. It sounds SO easy so will give it a try!
