I am playing along with the Just Rite Sketch Challenge this week with the added twist to make the colors red, white and blue.
The card did not have to be patriotic - just had to incorporate the colors. I really put my mojo to the test with this one - I was going to use the By the Sea set and make a masculine card but two of the Just Rite DT girls did that and I didn't want to be a "copy cat". I didn't have a Just Rite set that specifically fit a patriotic theme SO I went in an entirely different direction and made a red-white and blue birthday card instead. I have several friends and famiy member with July BDs so this will come in handy.
I flipped the sketch - inked up the happy birthday sentiment (love this font and the generous size!) from the new All Occasion Nested Sentiments as my starting point - then I stamped and colored the basket of apples from the Autumn Blessings Borders and Centers set. I colored the tiny berries blue, too. Since I was not going patriotic I decided to go with LIGHT blue with the red and white then matted it all on a piece of In the Navy CS (GinaK). Nesties work SO perfectly with Just Rite stamps - it was easy to cut and mat the image. Punched the red lattice work with the MS Garden Trellis punch, added some fun R&W polka dot ribbon (PTI) and a couple of prima flowers tied off with a button center. A few red pearls finished off the card for me.
I'm just loving my Just Rite stamps - they are SO versatile. I am tickled that I could use this "autumn" set and by coloring up a blue basket it became a fun summer set instead! By the way - in case you haven't heard, the new Just Rite Christmas sets begin shipping on JULY 1!!
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope your weekend is a good one.
