Well stampers - we had a week off (hope the 4th was great for all of you in the US who celebrate our Independence) and now it's time for another My Time to Create Color Challenge. Here's the color challenge as it was presented to us. I hope you will play along and link up your creation to the Mr. Linky that is on Lauren's blog.
Here is what I came up with. I just love Dawn McVey's vintage paper flowers (click here for instructions) and used that as my inspiration from the flowers on the bag along with Lauren's color palette. I realized after I got the whole thing done that maybe the pinkish color was more berry sorbet but I didn't have time to redo it all. My background was made using Polka Dot Basics and Fancy Flourishes with white ink on kraft. I used the small polka dot to tie the flourishes together with the polka dots. I used Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sunrise, Dark Chocolate and PTI kraft for my colors. Each of the punched flowers was stamped - dots on the yellow, versamark flower from Everyday Classics on the brown and flourishes on the pink. Then I crumpled and assembled the flowers and sewed buttons on each. Each flower is popped up on different thicknesses of dimensional. I did not distress the edges of the flowers as Dawn did.
Here's the flower detail. Super easy to make these with Marvy punches.
For the ribbon detail I used a piece of each of the three colors of ribbon. I layered them by size, summer sunrise dotted swiss, chocolate satin and hibiscus bitty dots. (each one is just a tiny bit narrower than the one below it). I then adhered the ribbon to the card back then twisted the three ribbons together to get the "rope" effect. I wanted something different than flat ribbon since this card has a lot of dimension. I won't mail this one - I'll give it to someone that gets a hand delivered card :-) You can see the ribbon detail here.
The DT girls have all been busy working on new ideas so hop on over to their blogs and see what they came up with this week. I know they are "over the moon" with great ideas for you. Thanks for stopping by!
