Wow - this week we get to play with any one of Lauren Meader's famous My Timeless Templates brought to you by Papertrey Ink. Our challenge was to create a birthday gift using any one of the templates and to then include the color purple somewhere OR include a butterfly. Please play along with us then link up your project to the Mr. Linky on Lauren's blog and let us see what you do!
This challenge was easy peasy for me because I have begun to discover the magic of Lauren's templates! I wanted to package up a bottle of hand lotion for a simple birthday gift. I originally thought I'd do it in pink to go with the color of the bottle, but then I saw Lauren's challenge to use purple and thought I'd try it ALL in purple AND add a butterfly (or two). The paper I'm using does have some pink in it - it is the WONDERFUL digital paper from Gina K Designs called Purple Rembrandt from Springtime in Paris collection. I just love that I never run out of these papers as long as I have a printer :-)
For my package I chose the For Keep{sake} template. It was my first time with this super easy but wonderful template. It was not quite tall enough for the lotion so I just made it taller - I love that it's easy to modify a template if you need to. For the acetate in the window I used one of my sheets of packaging material that the Papertrey stamps come packaged on. (Once I remove my PTI stamps to put them in my CD case I always keep those sturdy small slips of acetate!) They are PERFECT for this window project.
I filled the box with some fun, sparkly shiny basket shreds and nestled the lotion in. I added some PTI dotted swiss ribbon and silk flowers to the front of the box and two double velum butterflies. I used the MS butterfly punch, sponged the vellum and then added a touch of glitter to the body. Bent up the wings on each of the top butterflies for a bit of a 3D effect and voilá - all packaged up for pennies in a fun and attractive way!
THANK YOU Lauren! I just love, love, love these templates and can't wait to see what's "in store" (literally) next.
Meanwhile - pop on over to each of the other Design Team members and see what THEY chose to do with the template challenge. Be sure to play along so we can see what YOU can do with your time. Hugs n smiles and have a lovely weekend.
